Oh what a year it was

First let me say that I have started and stopped this blog post three times. This year has literally left me without words. It was a crazy – it felt like every good thing was followed by a string of bad things that left me saying “what the actual f*ck?!”

Personally, 2016 was just as up and down. I made some big professional changes – I quit my job, went out on my own and then went back to agency life. I celebrated a milestone birthday and gave my first eulogy to say goodbye to my Granny. I reconnected with people and lost touch with others. I travelled…a lot. I did not keep my commitment to clean eating and working out as much as I should have – that should explain the lack of documentation here on my little love project. But despite the many lows, I continue to be blessed with good health, wonderful family and friends.

The world of pop culture also took some mighty hits – we said goodbye to what feels like more talent than ever before – Prince, Fife Dawg, Mohammed Ali, Gene Wilder, Carrie Fisher, Debbie Reynolds, George Michael…and sadly, I could go on. But that wasn’t the only thing taking over the news cycle – there was also a lifetime of Trumpisms, which I’m sure many of us would rather forget.

And even with all of the drama that plagued 2016 personally, professionally and in the headlines I’m so happy to have built memories that will last a lifetime. Some of my fave moments below:

  1. A quick trip to San Francisco to ring in the New Year. Well, Mammoth for the New Year, San Francisco for the lead up.
  2. Celebrating 40 in Portugal and New Orleans.
  3. Mulled wine with mom at The Standard in NYC.
  4. Cocktails, wine and bubbles with my faves.
  5. Auntie Gabby time with Logan, Ella and Izzy.

To more of all of the above in 2017…that and  Alec Baldwin’s Trump.
